Busy-ness Bee: From a dream to a reality I am individual who has always had a true passion and enjoyment in performing administrative services. I worked “the corporate world” for approximately 8 of my 12+ years of admin experience in Northern Virginia in the sprawling suburbs of Washington, D.C. As a favor to a friend, I did some bookkeeping for a small, individual owned landscaping business. I enjoyed so much doing the work on “my time” and saving him from the hassles and headaches of dealing with the “overflowing shoe-box of receipts”. This was a part of his business he not only disliked, but also wasn’t well-versed in. Every couple of weeks or monthly I would update his books, hand him back clean, reconciled, organized “shoebox” along with a report of how his business was doing. At the end of the year, I was able to provide a report and digital file which he took to his accountant to do the taxes. It was then I realized my dream of becoming a traveling admin specifically for small businesses. I took on other small businesses (computer repair man & a farm market/produce stand) on a contract-type basis. While I enjoyed it, I was not able to really get the business up and running in a place where no one knows no one and large corporations were the rule. Having moved to Lake Norman, NC in June 2003, I didn’t know a soul, or where to begin to start my dream business. I ended up becoming an assistant to a real estate agent, then for a team of real estate agents. Over the past 4 years I’ve learned one thing more than anything else about this area: small (generally home-based) businesses rule! This realization, coupled with my own dream business, led me to the conclusion this is a perfect time an place to finally officially become the “Busy-ness Bee”! The goal of my services is to get your office/files/data set up to the point where you’d only need me to come in a few hours on a weekly or monthly basis to update the info, and/or get it to the point where you can do it yourself in a streamlined fashion if that’s your preference. |

Personal: I live in the Denver area of Lake Norman with my wonderful new husband and our 2 great cats. I enjoy spending my free time relaxing on the lake (or in our pool when the lake gets crowded). I like to play Scrabble, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with my parents, and in-laws who both live near-by. I enjoy meeting new people and look forward to doing that while helping your small business.
